As far as can be determined, Elvis had a screen test on this day.

Although the footage has not surfaced, some stills have:

He acted the part of the Jim Curry character from the forthcoming film The Rainmaker with veteran actor Frank Faylen
who was in the studio filming for The Gunfight at the OK Corral.
[Frank died in 1985 aged 79.]
He was nervous about his slight stammer, but Hal Wallis assured him that it made him seem more 'natural' !
In the end, the part went to Earl Holliman.

Elvis was also filmed, in colour, lip-synching to his own recording of Blue Suede Shoes & this footage surfaced in the 80s.

On the same day [or possibly a later date - perhaps 6th April] he was also filmed acting a scene with the rather obscure Cynthia Baxter.
This footage has never surfaced & we have just one still photo:

He later said: "I took this screen test where I came in and I was real happy and jolly and I didn't like it.
I did another one where I was mad at this girl and I liked that better - it was me !"
