Re: 24th October 1956, Wednesday
From "The Wild One '56" :-
Elvis, his parents, June Juanico, Pat Napier and Nick Adams, went for dinner at friends of Mr. and Mrs Presley. After midnight, Elvis and his group attended a special screening of a rough cut of Love Me Tender. Everyone was enthusiastic, except Elvis, who was not satisfied by his acting or the inclusion of the musical numbers, telling June Juanico, “If I could just get them to cut some of those damn silly songs, I'd like it a whole lot better.”

From "The Wild One '56" :-
Thursday October 25
In a hand-written letter to Tom Diskin, dated October 22, 1956, bass player Bill Black requested that the band be allowed to travel to New York by train. This was obviously refused, as the band drove, using Gladys’ 1955 Cadillac instead. The car broke down in Pennsylvania, and had to be repaired by Thomas Chevrolet.

Re: 24th October 1956, Wednesday
Bill Black drafted the letter on the 22nd. Yet he was at Elvis' that evening with the Jordanaires rehearsing for the very thing he was requesting transport for.
This is an insite as to how the relationship had changed between Elvis ad the band with most likely Parker telling the band don't go bothering the boy over such things, we manage him now so bring your problems to us to sort out.
I'm sure Elvis would have thought nothing of three train tickets.
In the end it was "Glady's car" they took and it broke down with Elvis ending up paying for the repairs anyway as well as being backed by a thouroughly pissed off group.
Well done Parker.
