4th January 1954
Though nothing came of his first session at the Memphis Recording Service, Elvis decided to give it another shot. He returned to the recording service this day to record two more songs on acetate. He sang 'It Wouldn't Be the Same Without You' and a country song called 'I'll Never Stand in Your Way'.

Fourteen year old Dixie Locke, a sophomore at South Side High School, notices Elvis at a church function and making sure he overhears, makes plans with a girlfriend to go roller-skating the following Saturday night at the Rainbow Rollerdrome.

30th January 1954
Elvis Presley, dressed in a black outfit with a bolero jacket, met Dixie Locke, at the Rainbow Rollerdrome, Memphis roller-skating rink, located at 2879-81 Lamar Avenue in Memphi. Driving her home that night, they make a date for the movies. Locke would soon become Presley's first real girlfriend.
During the next twenty months, she would be one of Elvis' steadiest dates. They both attended the First Assembly of God Church at 1085 McLemore Avenue. At South Side High School, Dixie Locke was one of the most sought after girls and Elvis Presley, never confident with women or relationships, felt reassured with her on his arm.
