December 26, 1958
Holiday on Ice is an ice show currently owned by Medusa Music Group GmbH, a subsidiary of CTS EVENTIM, Europe's largest ticket distributor, with its headquarters in Bremen, Germany.
However, its origins can be traced to Toledo, Ohio where on December 1942, Emery Gilbertan an engineer and builder created a portable ice rink and had an idea for a traveling show on ice. He took his idea to Morris Chalfen, a Minneapolis executive, who supplied the financing, and George Tyson, who used his theatrical background to create the show. After a successful launch, the Holiday on Ice Revue went international in 1947. Its global renown was further enhanced in 1953 when Sonja Henie (world ladies figure skating champion) joined the show until 1956.
The ice revue was also one that Elvis particularly enjoyed, having caught a few performances in the US before he was drafted into the Military. So it is no surprise that on December 26, 1958 he attended the Holiday on Ice Revue when it came to Frankfurt, Germany. Since the audience profile was slightly more elderly people, with less (Rock n' Roll) youngsters, Elvis thought it was safe for him to enjoy the show sitting with the Audience.. However, he was still hassled for autographs.
He was able to escape backstage as he had met quite a few members of the company during their US tours and when he was backstage, he even helped tie the laces of the ice skates for a few of the performers!
Some had this as Dec 27, 1958 but I will go with the Andreas Roth book "An Army Trilogy Volume II."
