On the flight from Dallas stop over to Memphis, Elvis catches 40 winks, with him are Nick Adams and cousin Gene Smith
      

      
Elvis took Nick shopping in Memphis, he ordered some furniture and this was the day a new addition to the family was made, Elvis got a puppy, Sweet Pea a Chihuahua / Pomeranian Loulou (I think), as a gift for his Mother.
      
BARBARA HEARN: He lost some of his Southern accent but, after a few days home, it came back. He looked the same, only more tired. And they didn’t even tweeze his heavy eyebrows or trim his hair. He brought some beautiful new clothes from Hollywood — white cashmere sweaters and beautiful shirts.
      
NICK ADAMS: When we landed in Memphis, Elvis was pretty tired. We got our bags and caught a taxi and headed for Audubon Drive. It was the first time I had ever been in the South and I was amazed to find it completely different from what I had expected. From the moment we arrived at the airport, the people were all — without exception — warm and friendly.
