Elvis, Natalie and Nick attend an early screening of the film Friendly Persuasion.
(Rumours Elvis left early as soon as he heard who was singing the title song are not true. ;) )

“I Want You... I Need You... I Love You!”

At the Friendly Persuasion preview — when one of the screen characters said, “Your ears will get as long as a hound dog’s” — Elvis, Natalie and Nick howled with glee, well aware of Elvis’ million- sale record hit, ‘Hound Dog’. Afterward, Nick and Natalie sought out Tony Perkins in the lobby to tell him what a wonderful job he'd done in the film, and then asked to introduce a friend — Elvis. “I certainly enjoyed your picture,” said Elvis, politely. “Thanks. I wish you success in yours,” replied Tony. “I’m still worried,” Elvis smiled. “But, man, you got it made!”

Starrdust Elvis Presley

Starrdust Elvis Presley almost caused a riot at the preview of William Wyler’s Friendly Persuasion the other night. The film stars Gary Cooper [and] Dorothy McGuire, and introduces young Anthony Perkins and 11-year-old Richard Eyer. The latter two youngsters are definite star material. The local press surrounded Presley for his autograph — for their youngsters, they explained. Elvis said he'd come to hear the music of Dimitri Tiomkin and catch his competition, Pat Boone, singing the title song.
