New feature.

Post by Alan » Sun Jan 01, 2023 12:29 am

I was looking to do "something" (not that I'm short on my list of things to do).
As it was 5 years since Graeme sadly passed on I thought I'd dig out a list of things discussed, wished for, dreamt of, etc etc.

One of the ones that I'd said was impossible - I used to say that a lot, sometimes even if I thought it might be possible but the task was too much to even consider it possible for either of us to achieve I still said "Impossible!", but I dabbled a few weeks back with a way of making one of the impossibles possible.

It worked, but with a slight price.
So before you could look up any concert on any day (1969 - 1977 so far) and see the list of all the releases releated to that show whether it was an entire CD or just one track, and you can still see that.
What you couldnt do was click on the name of the track from the list of songs performed and be given a list of releases for that show that featured just that track.

Well you can now.
The price, however, is that it appears slow to load all the data. It's not slow, its very fast but the server has to compute such a vast increase in the amount of data it processes that despite doing it fast the volume required makes it appear slow.

I missed completing this by the anniversary of his passing and so set my next target to be by the end of the year. I did it with 5 minutes to spare.

Let me know what you think.

There's a couple of flaws I've found, it doesn't like CD-R's so that should be a quick fix and sometimes a header for "Import Releases" comes up when there wasn't any Import releases, but again a fairly quick fix.
I'll sort tomorow - too tired now.

Fixed. Some tiny tiny little enomilies to iron out display wise and then that box is ticked. I think this is a unique feature, but please let me know if I've missed the boat.

That must have been a mammoth task !

Well done !

Minor point: When selecting to play a track, no indication of which release the audio is from !

I wouldn't always know :D
At some point in the future I might enable each release to be able to play its own tracks.

I'm now trying to incorporate what ive done for the 69 - 77 shows into the 1954 - 1961 shows.

1954 - 61 shows now done with a smal glitch - I cant get the pop up window to be the right size.
I've used the same formula from the 69 - 77 shows but its not playing ball.
It just means it has a scroll bar down the side.

EDIT: Glitch fixed
