A-ha! don't know where the Jan info came from but it also plays a part in altering where we were thinking for the guitar!
I'll remove it from the post above, place it in this post so it makes sense what we are talking about.

What I did think yesterday and it still applies to 1956 - where's the leather guitar case?
It suggests as well Elvis may have had to borrow the guitar, simple as that, it did happen now and again.

The appearances were said to be for the High School and Junior High and while one appearance on January 13th was held in the Auditorium, the other was held in the Gymnasium likely the same week if not the same day.

It has to be tomorrow on the 14th, doesn't it?
      
We have the evidence to show that Elvis was in Helena, AR. on this day of the 13th.
      
The Commercial Appeal is dated Saturday the 15th.
We have no show at present for tomorrow, Friday the 14th for it to clash with.
      
Edit: looking at the map it's only an hour and a halfs drive to Helena from Messick school.
So it's possible to do both shows on the same day, but that still leaves the junior school, still 4pm to 5-ish, then 5pm to 6-ish then drive down to Helena for 7:30-ish.
But Elvis has differing clothes on for the junior school photo.

Well that makes sense, I think, lol, they closed the school down for this?
Somethings not right on Brians site, Elvis' guitar, the image for Helena must be wrong.

That has to be a borrowed guitar.
That's two images of Elvis performing in Helena with a differing guitar to the one he was using in Memphis.
His name is not on the guitar in Helena.

That iconic look and story of the all in pink attire Elvis wore - the clip featured at the centre of the newspaper report below, well that's not what he's wearing in the photos even if they are black and white. Strange.
